Our main horticulturist, Carmelita, is an ex-occupational therapist with an aged care background, who loves to help seniors enjoy their gardens, enabling them to spend more time outdoors. This benefits their general wellbeing and hopefully keeps them living at home for longer. Learn more about Carmelita here.
I first became aware of Carmelita’s services because her husband and I were colleagues at the same school. We seem to exactly fit the profile of clients she had in mind. We are people who have loved and worked hard on our garden but as we have gotten older, and I have had particularly poor health, managing our home and garden was becoming too much for my husband.
It’s hard to describe how much Carmelita’s weekly visits have relieved the responsibility of garden maintenance, while at the same time leaving us ample opportunity to do as little or as much as we wish ourselves. Her extensive knowledge of appropriate fertilisers, pesticides and plant placement is brilliant – plus the amount of sheer hard work she does in four hours is astonishing. Naturally, people do not have to employ her as regularly and for the length of time we do, but considering that we are pensioners, we feel this money is very well spent.
Thanks, Carmelita, for the great work you’ve done in cleaning up my front garden. It was such a mess! It’s so tidy now and the new plants you’ve chosen look great. I’m really happy with it garden now. 🙂
We have always enjoyed rebuilding and nourishing gardens; — but when I became a widower, with vertebrae problems, I discovered Gardening4U — Carmelita has been wonderful. All my visitors congratulate me on the garden and comment on how “blooming” it is, plus it’s always neat and tidy. Nothing for me to do at all. Thank you.
